Practical tips for storing and serving wine like a professional

At Bodegas Luzón, we are passionate about not only creating exceptional wines, but also ensuring that they are enjoyed to the fullest on every occasion. In order to help you store and serve wine like a true expert, we have put together a list of practical tips that will guarantee you an unparalleled experience.

Storage:

1. Constant Temperature:

Maintaining a constant temperature is crucial to preserve the qualities of the wine. Ideally, storage should be at a temperature between 4°C and 15°C. Extreme fluctuations in temperature can alter the taste and structure of the wine, so avoid places exposed to sudden changes in temperature.

2. Darkness and Humidity:

Direct sunlight can deteriorate wine, so it is important to store it in a dark place. In addition, moderate humidity (around 70%) will help keep corks moist and prevent premature oxidation.

3. Horizontal Position:

Storing wine bottles horizontally ensures that the cork is in contact with the liquid, thus preventing it from drying out and shrinking. This will ensure an airtight seal that protects the wine from oxidation due to oxygen entering the bottle.

Service:

1. Decanting Correctly:

For older wines or those with sediment, decanting is essential. Pour the wine slowly into a decanter, avoiding shaking the bottle so as not to disturb the sediment. This will allow the wine to breathe and release its aromas and flavours.

2. Service Temperature:

In the case of our wines, red wine is served between 14 to 16 degrees, while white wine and rosé are enjoyed cooler, the ideal drinking temperature being between 4 to 8 degrees. Consult our specific temperature recommendations for each type of wine on our labels or on our website.

3. Choice of glasses:

Use clear crystal glasses that are appropriately shaped for each type of wine. The shape of the glass can significantly affect the tasting experience by influencing the concentration of aromas and the way the wine reaches your palate.

With these simple but effective tips, you will be ready to enjoy your favourite wines in all their splendour. At Bodegas Luzón, we are committed to providing you with the best possible experience, from the winery to your glass. Cheers and good wine!
